The most famous sculptor in Romania. He was born in Hobiţa, near Targu Jiu, the Gorj Judet capital. Here we have his most famous masterpieces, three works whose symbolize the human being life. "The Endless Column", "The Table of Silence", and "The Gate of Kiss" are a homage to the first world war.
They are in Târgu Jiu, lined up along the city in 1200 metres, from East ("Coloamna fara sfarsit") to West (the others two, placed in the city's main park).
In his life, Constantin Brancusi, after studying in Craiova he moved to Paris, where Auguste Rodin was an influence for him. During his artistic career, he was losing details in their works getting aproached to the abstract art.
