The Danube is the second largest river in Europe, right after the Wolga... they say it's about 2800 something metres long, goes from the Black Forest in Germany, until it ends in the Black Sea in Romania. On the Romanian-Serbian border, you can explore not only the beautiful landscape and nacient ruins but you can also feel the history that is connected with this place, because of it's extremely narrow passages, many people tried to flee the Ceaucescu-Regime by swimming through the danube, hoping they would reach Serbia.

The Banat Area also offers beautiful National Parks like Cheile Nerei or Portile del Fier, the good thing about those places is, they are not really turistic yet so if you are n the mood for wandering around there yourself, you may only meet some sheeps and salamanders on the way...

Unfortunately, the historical buildings of Baile Herculane don't get all the love and caring they deserve, but if you pay it a visit, you can still feel the aristocratic spirit in the air!

And for those relying on Road-Maps, never ever try the yellow road shortcut to Lipova!!
